Evaluation Talk: How to use Data Analysis and produce better Monitoring and Evaluation Reporting

Presentation Outline: 1) Introduction to Data Analysis, 2) Types of variables and measurement scales, 3) Testing Data Quality (Reliability and Validity Tests), 4) Descriptive Statistics (Frequency Counts, Measures of Central Tendency and Dispersion), 5) Inferential Statistics (Chi Square, Correlation Analysis, Linear and Binary Regression, T-Tests, ANOVA etc.), 6) Some Useful Tools for Data Analysis (Excel, STATA, R, SPSS, Power BI, Tableau etc.)

 

Bio of the presenter - Stephen Mutinyu

Stephen Mutinyu is a Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist working with Wanah Consults. He is a researcher with 14 years’ experience in monitoring and evaluating health interventions and programs.

Mutinyu has taught research methods and data analysis courses at a number of institutions including; UTAMU, Metropolitan International University and Makerere Training Consultants. He has interests in sexual and reproductive health, and organizational Monitoring and Evaluation Capacity. Mutinyu has presented his research findings at a number of International Conferences including the Africa Health International Conference in Kigali, Rwanda.

He formerly worked with Vinacef Uganda as an M&E Coordinator. Before joining Vinacef, Mutinyu worked with Amref Health Africa and was supporting the Sexual Reproductive and Health Rights (SRHR) Project in Amuru District. Prior joining Amref, he was the M&E Officer for the Adolescent SRHR Project at Better Health Action Group.

Mutinyu holds a Master’s Degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, a Post Graduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation both from the Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU), and a Bachelor’s Degree in the Social Sciences from Makerere University. He is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Public Health from Nexus International University.
