Performance management is intended largely for the following major reasons; (1) monitoring strategic progress, project performance, programmatic assumptions, and operational context; (2) evaluating performance and impact; (3) learning and adapting from evidence1. Secondly, performance management is critical for accountability and reporting functions, which are a bridge between the implementation team and the wider stakeholders (funders and beneficiaries).
