Message from the President of the Uganda Evaluation Association

As we close the chapter of the outgoing year and step into a new one, I extend my heartfelt gratitude and warmest wishes to each one of you. Your unwavering support and commitment have been instrumental in the progress we have achieved as an association.

We have much to celebrate from the past year. The Uganda Evaluation Week was a tremendous success, drawing participants from across the nation and beyond our borders. This event was a testament to our growing influence and the critical role of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) in fostering development. Additionally, several of our members had the privilege to participate in the AfrEA, SAMEA, CES, and EES conferences, further enriching their professional perspectives and strengthening our international networks. A number of our members supported review of abstracts for AEA and IDEAS conferences.

Our achievements would not have been possible without the generous support of the institutions that provided financial and technical assistance. Your contributions enabled us to organize impactful events and sustain the operations of our association. To our members who diligently paid their membership and subscription fees, thank you. These funds are the backbone of our operations, empowering us to execute our mandate effectively.
As we look ahead, I encourage all members to renew their subscriptions early in the year. Timely payments ensure that we can plan and deliver on our objectives without delays. Let us work together to uphold the standards of excellence we strive for.

I am pleased to inform you that our Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held before the end of March 2025, details will be communicated in due course. During the AGM, we will elect our new executive committee members. While all members are welcome to attend, only paid-up members will be eligible to participate in the elections. Additionally, AfrEA will celebrate 25 years this year in Addis Ababa. Members are encouraged to effectively attend – a detailed report shall be issued at the AGM.

Despite our successes, we also faced challenges, particularly in securing presenters for the National Evaluation Talks. I urge all members to actively engage in these platforms by sharing their expertise and experiences. Your contributions are vital in fostering a vibrant and knowledgeable evaluation community.

As we embark on a new year, I remain confident in the strength of our association and the collective resolve of our members. Together, we can continue to promote M&E practices that drive positive change.

Wishing you a prosperous and impactful year ahead!

President, Uganda Evaluation Association
